Objectives of SAILS
VISION
- to provide opportunities for youth at risk together with families to overcome their difficulties, reach their potential and engage fully in community life.
MISSION
- to engage those most at risk who are not connecting with traditional activities and to offer proven successful easily accessible programs to youth and community workers for their clients
- to apply Christian principles to all the work conducted through SAILS initiatives
- to offer diversionary activities for the community in particular young people at risk and their families
- to create positive community involvement for youth through activity, learning, support and mentoring
- to offer flexible learning opportunities and skill sets for young people in the areas of communication, team building, leadership and problem resolution
- to offer referral services from SAILS to appropriate health, education, employment and counselling services
- to work with the community in response to the needs of young people and the community
- to offer programs in a complimentary capacity within the community through consultation, collaboration, integration and partnership
- to offer programs and strategies which are evidence based and supported by research
- to provide quality mentoring opportunities through programs and training for volunteers
- to apply Action Learning principles through ongoing evaluations, reviewing and monitoring of all aspects of the SAILS initiatives
- to work within a holistic framework
- to source funding and sponsorship to enable the continuation and development of SAILS programs
